I was having some pictures taken in the Spring of 1993 at my Dad's request. It was taking a LOT longer than I'd anticipated and I finished the book I was reading. Lucky for me the local Waldenbooks was *just* across the promenade from where Glamour Shots were located. So, I wandered over and saw this book, the original with the Terri Windling cover? And I'd just finished reading his story "The Moon is Drowning While I Sleep" so I picked this book up. WOW

I think this is actually the 4th time I've read these stories, and being older this time...I just view things differently. Most of these stories are written in the mid- to late-eighties, so I'll go easier on the "appropriation" in a lot of these--when de Lint is trying to not just have white people in his tales. Some of these work better than others.

I'm a compulsive reader, I read most genres, I try new authors, read favourite authors and sometimes re-read favourite books. Dreams Underfoot comes under the latter two categories. I've long had the paperback version but decided to treat myself to the e-book version too. Dreams Underfoot is an interconnecting series of short stories that introduces us to a place called Newford and the characters who live there. I think the genre of Urban Fantasy has been taken over somewhat by latter day tales
