Let me begin by saying, this book had a lot of negatives going against it even before I started. I am not a fan of Walking Dead, Harry Potter or Peter Straub, not because these are bad TV shows, books or authors, but because they focus on themes that don't quite appeal to me, namely: zombies, young adults and horror. And Feed has all these in spades. But I wanted a change of fare and saw how well reviewed and rated this book was here on Goodreads, so ...

Feed by Mira Grant is one of those books that proves it’s important to step out of your comfort zone once in a while. I’m not a big fan of zombie novels, to put it mildly. Usually I’d steer well clear of anything involving zombies — or vampires, for that matter. I decided to give Feed a chance as part of my attempt to read all the Hugo-nominated novels and shorter works this year. Boy, am I ever glad I did, because it proved to be one of the most captivating and entertaining novels I’ve read all

My rating is probably more a 4.5 but since that is not possible I am going to go ahead and round it up to 5.
This is a zombie book and it is very well done. I really loved the character of George. She and Shaun were characters that I would like to know in real life. I liked George's practicality and her desire to make sure the world knows the truth. I also thought that Shaun was a nice balance to George's character.

Excellent novel about a post-zombie apocalypse America where society has come to grips with the ever present danger of the infected. Every person on Earth is infected with a dormant form of the virus that causes people to re-animate once they die.
It was interesting to read yet another take on life with zombies. In Feed, it seems like there are relatively few zombies in the course of 600 pages, but the threat of becoming prey for the undead is always there. What makes Feed stand out for me is th ...more

I like zombie stuff. I feel like we reached peak zombie a few years ago, but I still enjoy a good romp with the walking dead from time to time. This was a pretty good book about life after the uprising. It's more of a political thriller with zombies, but that's ok. I liked the zombie parts more than the political parts. The writing was solid. Nothing too great, but it kept the pages turning. I think I'll read the second one.

This book was not at all what I expected and I loved it. The audio narration added to my enjoyment, especially the female voice of Georgia Mason, read by Paula Christiansen. Politics aside, I found the combination of Zombies, the 2040 Presidential campaign and blog journalism unusual and captivating.
