YO, THERE'S SOME MUTHAFUCKIN' SPOILERS UP IN THIS BITCH, FOR REAL
★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ 1 Star for the most grindingly obvious villain that i've had the displeasure of experiencing in years. he's a militaristic, right-wing, fundamentalist old man with the ruthless urge to dominate and no respect for youth, the media, liberals, etc. i know these people exist, obviously. but can't targets be picked with a bit more subtlety and finesse? this guy was out of central casting and only needed a moustache to twirl to ...more

Sure, it begins in the midst of a zombie fight, but it's all downhill from there.
Mawkish manipulative bullshit.
Dialog that strains to be witty banter but fails miserably.
A plot with more holes than sense. (view spoiler) ...more

For the most part, an entertaining mix of zombies, journalism, and politics. Some of the message parts of the novel did get a bit heavy-handed and the tech seemed dated but the plot clipped along at a fairly brisk pace and I was never bored while listening. The narration was done by Paula Christensen and Jesse Bernstein who, I thought, did a pretty good job.
This book took a lot of current zeitgeist and distilled it into ... something pretty awesome. Certain plot events were predictable but it was still a great read. Just a little too heavy with the exposition sometimes, but it's barely noticeable. As with all zombie books, of course, there's, well, all the gory stuff one expects from zombie stories.

I like the post apoc storyline..how it happened..how they now survive. I really liked the main characters, but the lack of interest in anyone but each other was a little weird. I didn't like the political storyline as much. Maybe it hit a little too close to home given the current political campaign season. All in all a good book. Not in a rush to read more of the series, but will eventually.

An easy but frustrating read. Kudos for (view spoiler), since that's certainly rare, but not a series I'll be continuing. I was curious enough to look up plot summaries of the following two books (but not enough to actually read them), and that only solidified my decision to stop after this one.

I really don't like zombie books; reviews suggested this wasn't one soi I picked it up. I only read 60+ pages before abandoning it; it does seem to be a zombie book

I'm not a zombie fan, but this one is worth reading.
