I really wanted to like this, but I couldn't make it through. It's all tell and no show, and just about every sentence is one simple writing cliche or another, the MC telling us about how she feels - "I was terrified, I was wound so tight, my calm shattered," and thinks instead of actually showing anything that is happening. A few phrases like this can have their place in a book, but thats literally all it was.
