I liked this, but not as much as any of the first three books. LeGuin's writing is lucid, and sometimes beautiful, but it tends towards being a bit dull. There's quite a bit to ponder, but not much of a visceral impact. Rather, she keeps a certain distance, and while this works, it leaves me a little less than enthusiastic. I find myself admiring her writing more than I actually like it.

It took two attempts, but not only did I finish this installment of the Earthsea Cycle, I enjoyed it more than I expected. The Afterword helped to bump it up a notch as well.
It was very nice seeing Tenar and Ged again, as well as meeting Therru. The story takes a few unexpected but ultimately welcomed turns. However, the main "twist" is foreshadowed for those paying attention.
