So, in the end, due to the audio book, I really enjoyed this. It took me 3.5 years to read though. But it wasn’t like I disliked it. That wasn’t the reason I kept setting it aside. No, it was more that it was the wrong time for the book and it was taking me too long to eye-read it. I didn’t have enough time and kept losing the plot. Now, listening to the audio book, I was able to listen to great chin is of it and finish the whole book (I started over - at lightning speed) within just a few days. ...more

Dang but I wish Id read this sooner! Necromancers in space all sounded a little overboard, and maybe it was, but I was totally invested almost immediately.

After reading Nona, I had to do a re-read to catch all the little details....even better!

This was my favorite read of 2019

I should have written a review when I finished it because this book deserves attention. I pretty much loved everything about it. The genre. The subject matter. The writing style. And I especially loved the characters....

Most of my GR SFF friends love you. So believe me when I say it is me -not you, but I have to dnf you at page 89 (end of part one).

I like the snark and the kick ass attitudes of the two main girls, Harrow and Gideon. They are awesome. Their speech and actions do often make it read like a YA novel.

I never read horror books, but I have been known to handle a book or two involving necromancy-lite. However, many pairs of skeletal hands reaching up from the ground trying to grab someone is a little

I almost quit before I really got into the story—it was just weird and hard to follow. But things seemed to come together a bit once Harrow and Gideon traveled to the First House; I could sort of see the story beginning to take shape.

I knew this was the beginning of a trilogy, so I am not surprised that a number of things are left unresolved. But Gideon’s story came to a conclusion and at least a few mysteries were cleared up.

I am very grateful there was a list of characters by House and I r

So disappointed. I had been anticipating reading a fun book and what I got was a mess. The writing was absolutely horrible. Won't be picking up anything else from this author. ...more

Really fun and irreverent. I think if I'd been in a different mood I wouldn't have liked it so much, but I really liked it a lot. Necromancers in space, I mean come on...

There were some things I really loved about the writing. It doesn't quite follow all the rules. In some cases that's super enjoyable, and in others, I got a little bit confused. But overall, I loved it and I can't wait for the next one.
