While certain elements are the same between the movie and book, the sequence of events and key points are vastly different. In some ways, the movie did a better job of establishing the characters. I found this story a bit too insubstantial. There wasn't much for explanations, not much of why anything was going on or why they were trying to figure it out. And then everything just fell apart in no time. It felt unfinished.

The characters are only known by their job titles and the location doesn't get any less mysterious as the story progresses. Very different kind of fantasy/horror story that won't be to everyone's taste - but I guess it is to mine.

rather dull but it was a very quick read so it didnt feel too bad. Im going to watch the movie and see what happens.... to be fair probably worthy of a 2.5/5
