The book is neither brilliant nor drivel. I understand neither those who "could not" finish it; nor those who have rererereread it. It is more overtly humerous, and less pseudo-scientificointellectual than most sci-fi.
It is silly, amusing, fantastic, clever, and engaging... but in that order. It is plotless but not plodding. It... well, it just "is." It is truly skin deep. It is as non intellectual; maybe even as non intelligent as a book can be.
2 1/2 stars, really. ...more

I definitely liked the book, but I'm not sure I loved it as much as I was expecting to - I had a hard time settling into the story if that makes any sense. Maybe because of the constant changing of topic and the many, many made up words. Which I understand the reason for, I just personally struggled with it. I definitely plan to keep reading the series though and I definitely found it really funny.

F***ing absolutely hilarious!!!! I'm surprised this one escaped me for this long but thank god there are more by Adams! I couldn't put it down and I think I read it in about 2 days or so. Great stuff!! I cant wait to read "Mostly Harmless" and "Don't Panic".
