Don't hit me! I know, I know, I hate when authors play with form. And the story is unevenly told (not just physically). But it's a GREAT idea, and I was genuinely terrified reading it. I had to hide it from view to sleep at night while I was reading parts of it. I didn't mind the framing story (which I usually do) EXCEPT for the how the narrator nicknamed the stripper non-character Thumper, and was childishly obsessed with her. I'm still reeling. I'm sorry I borrowed this from the library because there are tons of things I want to re-examine.

Danielewski is a genius. I adore the footnotes, the obnoxious creativity in the design of the pages, the psuedo-intellectual feel of some sections, the schizophrenic sensations it gives, the horror, the pleasure, the insanity of this masterpiece. Everyone should own a copy.
