I remember being a teen in love and being told dismissively by the adults in my life, that these feelings were just 'puppy love'. Rainbow Rowell has written a book that perfectly captures the intense, almost exquisitely painful feelings of a teen's first true love and she doesn't patronize nor dismiss these very real feelings. Neither does she provide easy answers for Eleanor and Park, two teens who meet on the school bus and initially bond over comic books and music. Both are targets for the hi ...more

Oh what a wonderful read, I am still smiling! Thanks to Mary Eileen for recommending this book and then giving me her ARC. I just loved Park and I grew to understand and love Eleanor. Eleanor is big, awkward with bad clothes and bright red hair. She is the oldest of a very large family. Her mother makes bad choices with men and her latest stepdad is a drunk who beats his wife and when Eleanor expressed her hatred of him, her mother sent Eleanor away for a year to live with her brother and his wi ...more

I have to be honest, this book grabbed on to my heart right away and kept tugging on its strings until I was done. Very sweet, heartbreaking first love story with a nice little trip down memory lane. I felt like I was right there inside the tale.

I bought this book Sunday afternoon and stayed up until 2am to finish it. I couldn't put it down, which is something I haven't done with a book for a long, long time. This book is going on my list of best books of 2013.

It's possible I loved this book for all the wrong reasons. I was a girl "in love" in 1986 with a boy who wore black and made me mixed tapes with Black Flag, the Smiths, and the Cure. I wasn't allowed to see him, so our time at school was gold. (Oh the drama!) So many parts of this

I listened to this as part of the 2014 Hub Challenge and just like the book I read a year ago, I LOVED Rebecca Lowman's Eleanor and Sunil Malhotra's Park. Their voices, inflections all brought back to me how much I loved this book and ached for both characters. I can see why it won Amazing AudioBooks. I am not a fan of listening to books but I couldn't stop because Eleanor and Park became people to me, just like I became a part of their world in the book. I would love to see a movie made out of ...more

Such a beautiful story. I so badly want to give it five stars but unfortunately the racism demands that a star be taken off. In true Rainbow Rowell fashion, the ending left me wanting more. I would love a sequel to find out what happened to all of the characters.
