I definitely enjoyed it, but I felt like it was trying to be really serious and not quite succeeding. And that ending was really abrupt and weird.

When I finally got to this book, it ended up being a fast read. I'd give it 3.5 stars--better than 3 but not quite worth 4. It is, as the title suggests, a story of The Daughter of the Pirate Queen, and it will have at least one sequel. Alosa, the title character, allows herself to be kidnapped by other pirates in the opening pages. She needs access to their ship in order to steal 1/3 of a map detailing the way to Isla de Canta, the sirens' island. Pirate brothers Draxen and Riden hold her capti ...more
