Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children fails to keep up with the initial intrigue it inspires. It takes way too long to get going, and once it does, it slows down again. It is full of starts and stops. The story just skims the surface of its potential. There were so many opportunities for growth that were ignored. The reveals were unimpressive and the characters were bland. Despite the cover and the photographs, there is no horror, creep, or fear to this book. It reminded of my first chapte ...more
