I assumed at first that this was a young adult novel, but as I progressed, I realized that the writing felt more like either a children's book with adult concepts, or a YA with inferior writing and a much younger "tone." It bordered on a great concept, but just couldn't pull it together enough to make it work for me. I try to go into reading a book without any preconceived notions and a neutral opinion, even if someone I know has said that they loved or hated a book because everyone has different tastes.
I'm glad I didn't know much about 'Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children' when I started reading it, and especially glad that I hadn't read all of the bad reviews. I may have missed out on a really intriguing story.

What an interesting premise and great use of old creepy photos. Didn't know what to except from this book but I got so much more.
