So, now that I've just finished reading this great novel, I've lined up a whole bunch of spoilers for you. Are you ready?
Just kidding.
This is easily one of the most satisfying pure SF space-opera-ish revolutionary high-tech adventures I've ever read. I've mentioned before that I love the pacing, the story is strong as hell, and the characters are all pretty much awesome.

4.5 stars rounded up.
Morning Star is an exciting finish to the action-packed Red Rising trilogy. The book takes its time with the pacing and spends some time on character growth, and of course, it is a war story so there can't be a happy ending for all.

This is the book where, naturally, all the conflicts come to a head. I expected epic battles, huge throwdowns between the heavy hitters, and to have my emotions jerked from one extreme to the other. What I did not expect was the colossal amount of character growth, which took the story from entertaining to almost… personal. It narrowed the conflict for a bit and forced the characters to really analyze their priorities and solidify their convictions within this fight. Morning Star was easily the

The trilogy concludes in a very satisfying way hitting all the emotional points it needs to and leaving few character or plot-based loose ends.
I can't really give much of a plot summary without spoiling the hell out of the second book, so I won't. Safe to say that all the surviving favorites from the first book have appearances and solid arcs here even if some of those arcs don't end well. Brown has never stinted with killing off characters or even just brutally torturing and maiming them.

What a truly wonderful ending. I'm sort of speechless right now, it met any and all expectations I had built up from the first two books!

4.5 stars - this was a brutal and satisfying end to a good series. When I first started Red Rising, I wasn't sure if I wanted to even finish the book, but I'm glad I did - and that I continued. I did the trilogy in audible, and Tim Gerard Reynolds is one of my very favorite readers. I can't really say much about this book without possibly introducing spoilers - but I can definitely recommend it!

A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. (Yep, I'm apparently just doing one-sentence reviews right now.)

Well, Mr Brown, hats off. From the outset when you killed off one of my new favourite characters to the ending where I thought you were killing off, well, everyone else, it soared. There were joyous moments, sweet romantic leanings, tears by the bucketload.
It is a war so there are deaths, incredible violence, dining tables and bravery. Overall, a very satisfactory conclusion.

How can a science fiction book be so unbelievably, gorgeously written while at the same time be cleverly and masterfully plotted and have characters that change and grow so much throughout the course of the series, and make me want to curl up in bed and do absolutely nothing with my life until the story was done?
This book. This book. What can I say? It was pretty perfect. I think if any author wanted to start and carry out a revolution, Pierce Brown could do it. There was one scene in particular ...more
