You can't choose your parentage. But you can choose your legacy

Ι don't know what I am supposed to do here. The books of Rick Riordan are all time favorites of mine, as they can comfort someone in their darkest days, create smiles and tears and a million emotions and make a person fall in love with mythology and with the great, diverse and utterly adorable characters of each story. For this reason, I am not going to specifically talk about BoO but about Rick in general :D

Ι don't know what I am supposed to do here. The books of Rick Riordan are all time favorites of mine, as they can comfort someone in their darkest days, create smiles and tears and a million emotions and make a person fall in love with mythology and with the great, diverse and utterly adorable characters of each story. For this reason, I am not going to specifically talk about BoO but about Rick in general :D

Here are a few reasons to read his novels, if you haven't yet:

1) Mythology, whether Greek, Roman, Norse or Egyptian, with magic, and gods, and demigods, and monsters and all kinds of cool plot twists you can imagine

2) Diversity. Characters of color, LGBTQ+ characters, disabled characters, mentally ill characters, characters of different body shapes, characters of different religions and all sorts of other groups, in every single story. And let's not forget that these characters are not defined by their diverse characteristics but are fully fleshed out and multidimensional

3) Funny situations. Rick Riordan has his unique way to make a person fall down laughing while in the middle of a battle scene in the book, and I totally bow to his writing style, that makes him a perfect middle grade author

4) Meaningful friendships and relationships. Want to ship people? Go! Want to smile at beautiful platonic bonds and family ties? Go! Want depth in character intercourse and characters with strong connections with their environments? This is the place for you!

5) Epic descriptions of battles, that can bring a person to the edge of their seat and make their heart want to leap out of their chest

6) Nice writing, easy to follow, quick and intense where it needs to be, but not overdramatic, as we are talking about middle grade stories.

And these are only a few of the reasons for which so many people worldwide read and love Rick Riordan's stories ♥ I will never stop recommending them, so if you want to read adventurous middle grade with mythology and its own unique complexity, go and start with Rick Riordan ♥ (or Cornelia Funke, she's great as well :D)
