This book is brutally honest through some really dark and heavy topics. There is a lot of trauma and abusive, alongside mental health and addiction. Content-wise, it’s not super enjoyable. Because it’s harrowing and no one should have to go through all this, But story-telling wise, it has an amazing voice and very dry delivery that really captures the innocence and naivety of Jenette at various stages of her life. But it’s not funny. I have no idea how anyone comes away from this book thinking a

This book was a good insight into how Hollywood works especially for child stars. Jennette's life was troubled and hard and her mother didn't make things easy for her. I loved how she wrote about that relationship and how she handled the heavy topics in this book. I've never dealt with an ED or even alcohol addiction but I empathized with her as I read her struggles with both and I'm glad that she did make progress and seems to be in a much better place than what she was.

This book was different from what I was expecting. I knew a few things about it, and I knew what it was about, but it was written in a way I was not foreseeing. It felt clinical, like Janette is detached from the story she is telling because she would not be able to say it without controlling her emotions, and I think that's what makes the book so intense. Don’t get me wrong, all she went through is so horrible and I was shocked by so many passages, but her controlled honesty is what makes me fe

This was such an interesting read.
I am not a memoir reader. I'm just someone that likes to escape reality so I stick to fiction. However, I was a huge iCarly fan as a kid and so was naturally very curious about Jennette. Having heard about this and that she spoke about iCarly I was interested in what she said.
I used my spotify premium to listen to parts of this and I also had a library libby loan to read along too. This was well worth it. The audio is great as its her reading it. And the pacing ...more

It feels kinda weird rating this as it's a memoir and someone else's life story, but I really enjoyed reading every single aspect. It was so eye opening and really gave you an idea of how harmful the people you love can truly be. I know the title is controversial to some, but if you fall into the category of "you should never say things like that about family!!!" or something along those lines, then clearly you missed the entire point of this book.
