2.5 stars that I'm rounding up. This was an interesting story about a girl who's brother goes away to war. When she doesn't hear from him, she decides to ditch her city life and head to the warfront as a correspondant for a news outlet. It was an interesting story, just as that.
But add in to it - the fight is not between countries like we think. Two gods have awakened and are warring. Both gods are capable of comeplling men to fight for them. Iris is in the area of a god that plays an instrumen ...more

Not usually the genre I go for, but this one caught me up!
In a war a girl finds herself writing letters to a stranger.
I wish the ending was a happy ending, but I guess that's why it has a sequel! ...more

When Iris' brother goes off to war in a war between two rival gods, she heads to the war front as a war correspondent to track down why she hasn't heard from him. The war between the gods was an enjoyable storyline but the poor romance plot line kind of killed this book for me. It unfortunately brought down an otherwise compelling and interesting read with a slog of correspondence and drama.

I thoroughly loved this book and can't wait to read the next book. I ordered it from Book of the Month so I'm excited to see what happens in the next book. I loved the way this book ended.
At first I wasn't a big fan of Iris or Roman but the more the book went on the more invested I got into these two characters. I was also really invested in the side characters, Attie and Marisol.
I'm really anticipating the next book to ship on Dec. 22nd 😀 ...more

I am always a sucker for romance involving letter exchange. It is a wonderful book with endearing characters and an interesting plot.
