Let's be real, I went into this book with very low expectations. Usually when I do that, the book turns out to be better than what I thought it would be. In this case, it was kind of better than what I thought it would be, but not really. I'm not a huge Emily Henry fan. My Grade: C- As usual, Emily Henry's novels are hit or miss, and this one was more of a Meh minus.
The Good Stuff:
-A few funny scenes were sprinkled very sparingly through the story. I loved the movie theater scene.
-The chemistry and spicy scenes were pretty good.
The Not So Good Stuff:
-For being titled Happy Place, I found this book to be so freakin depressing and such a downer! Don't go into this book thinking everything is going to be sunshine and brownies.

This was so good! This was my book club pick for June and was perfect for a summer read. I like the dynamic of the friends in the book and the role that played in the story. I love a duel timeline. It’s becoming one of my favorite types of storytelling. I like Emily Henry’s writing and just enjoy her books overall and this one was no different. This should definitely be on your summer reading list.

Honestly, it is not this book's fault that I am giving it 3 stars. I think the subject matter hit a little too close to home right now. I have every intention of revising this rating in the future.
