A group of friends, a summer house, a vacation they always take together. I liked the history of this group of friends and how different each personality was. I liked getting to know the small town and their traditions each summer.
But I just didn't feel drawn in at first. I didn't love the flashbacks but I can see how they did enlighten us on some of the issues. I didn't love not knowing more about the main couple until much later because it kept me from really rooting for them until near later ...more

This was my first Emily Henry book and she didn't disappoint me. For years this author has been praised. I haven't come across a negative review yet on any book she's written which is impressive. That also worried me because I tend to not love the overly hyped authors and the books they've written. I loved this.

I have really grown to really enjoy Emily Henry's books. This was no exception.
The story is told entirely from Harriet's pov, but it's not just about her. It's about the entire group of friends and how their relationship grew and changed as a group and as couples (because over the years they have paired up). Overall though it's about Harriet having to deal with Wyn after they broke up months ago and telling everyone the truth.

I generally love Emily Henry, but the ending of this one made it my least favorite of her books to date. Overall, it didn't make sense and felt out of left field. It was a very Hallmark-y ending, and while all her books are romcoms they generally show more respect for the interests and careers of the female lead. Will I still pick up her next book? Of course. However, I think this one just didn't work for me.

I have to admit this is not my kind of book, but I decided to give it a chance. It just took a lot to really get into this “chick” book. About a woman who cannot make up her mind if the relationship is over, when in fact the relationship is dead and gone. I wanted to hope that he wins her in the end, but alas. I am actually rooting for it to be over
