"Maybe it was the willingness to play that hinted at a tender, eternally newborn part in all humans. Maybe it was the willingness to play that kept them from despair."

I have to confess - I'm a huge gamer nerd. I've been playing games on PC & Xbox for as long as I can remember. In the time of the pandemic, I think many did as I did - played more open world MMO's and made safe friendships. So this story pushes all my nerd buttons in the best way.

I was looking forward to this story after reading so many good things about it, but I just didn't connect with these characters. I only continued the story because I chose it to read for a challenge.

This one is going to be hard to rate. The narrative follows the lives of Sam and Sadie from childhood friends to adult business partners in video gaming. There were parts of this book which i really enjoyed and the author creates a believable. almost see-sawing relationship between the two MCs. There is as much going on between the lines of the narrative as within it. Lots of things to make the reader challenge their own ideas and those of society.
