I'm not really sure what expectations I had from this book because I honestly went in blind and have never read a book by this author before. This book was good, but it wasn't great. I honestly felt like nothing was happening because honestly nothing happened. I read over 500 pages and I only really got to know the two main characters personalities. That's pretty much it. This book was an amazing read it had many great parts and highs and lows and a highly entertaining story. I really loved the characters especially Alizeh and Kamran one being a girl hiding in plain sight while the other finds many a different thing both about himself and others. I really enjoyed the interactions between the two of them they do have great chemistry even if one wants to deny it. I may be in the minority, but I have a hard time putting up with Mafi's writing. It was horrible in the Shatter Me series. I think it has improved in this one. However, the superfluous language is still problematic. It still seems like the rambling of someone who wants to use flowy language and doesn't quite know what all the words or expressions mean. I feel like her editor should take a stronger stance in improving the prose. I did unearth a plot for this book despite the excessive language. I ...more
