Cinder is a retelling of one my favorite fairytales Cinderella. In this modern fairytale set in futuristic New Beijing, hundred years after World War IV, we are introduced to the main heroine: Cinder. A deadly and contagious disease is ravaging the Earth and killing its people, not to mention an imminent war against the people who live on the Moon (Luna), the Lunars. Cinder will soon discover that that the peace and safety of Earthens might possibly lie in her hands.

I didn't know this was a Cinderella retake.
I liked how there wasn't much romance in the book. There were the odd moments, but I didn't mind it. One thing that I didn't like was how (view spoiler) But I had no idea that (view spoiler) That was a nice shock. And why is there always an evil Queen? I don't even need any s ...more

I had bought the new boxed set because I'm obsessed with the cover art and I remembered really liking this series the first time I read the ebooks years ago.
I'm glad that I was right! It was even more enjoyable reading it this second time around. The characters are so enjoyable. Cinder is one of my favorite modern retellings I've ever read. The combination of futuristic sci-fi technology, a "forbidden" romance, balls, the discrimination between cyborgs, Lunars, and Earthens. It's all done so we ...more

This book left me pleasantly surprised. For all the series hype on booktube, I expected to be disappointed. Not only was I not, infact I went out to buy the second book(breaking my book buying ban). Why cant booktube hyped YA books all be this refreshing..
So the retelling is of Cinderella as a cyborg in a dystopia/sci-fi? world, where she is an adopted orphan and works as a mechanic to support her family. The pacing, I had heard was slow, but personally it didn't feel that way. Considering I had ...more

Great new take on a classic tale! Perfect blend of sci-fi and the fantasy I was raised on, I'm very eager to see where the series will go.
