Reread 2019: RTC
I read this book as part of a group read for The Booket List on Facebook.
Cinder is a cyborg and talented mechanic who runs a booth at the local market for repairs. By chance, she meets Prince Kaito and they start a precarious friendship. When Cinder's sister Peony falls sick with leutomosis, she is sent to be a volunteer for the cyborg draft to find a cure. However, Cinder doesn't die from the tests, instead she learns dangerous secrets about herself.

I didn't know this was a Cinderella retake.
I liked how there wasn't much romance in the book. There were the odd moments, but I didn't mind it. One thing that I didn't like was how (view spoiler) But I had no idea that (view spoiler) That was a nice shock. And why is there always an evil Queen? I don't even need any s ...more

Cinder Review on K-Books
"He was so far out of realm, her world, that she should have stopped thinking about him the second the door had closed. Should stop thinking about him immediately. Should never think about him again, except maybe as a client - and her prince. And yet, the memory of his fingers against her skin refused to fade. "

A gripping book, I didn't want to put it down but the "twist" was predictable. I would have enjoyed this book more if I read it in Middle school

Apparently I didn't review this book when I first read it a couple years ago.
This book is a really good beginning to an amazing series.
So yes it is a Cinderella retelling where Cinderella is a cyborg named Cinder. It's also set in what is basically Asia so that's really neat. It sounds kind of weird, but it's done really well.
Strong female leads, good romance without being cheesy or triangley, great world-building, overall very believable.

Loved this book! The plot was suspenseful and gripping. I was trying to go slow and savor it (like usual) but then towards the middle I just had to know what would happen next and I flew through the rest of it in a couple of hours. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series!!

Loved it! I listened to this on audio and the narrator did a fantastic job. Despite it being a "Cinderella" retelling, there are so many new elements to this book, that if you are turned off by that fact - it really won't be an issue - I promise. Yes, Cinderella is a cyborg mechanic with a mean step-mother and there is a prince - but the story, the plot & the pacing were all engaging. The characters - oh so brilliantly written that I wanted to reach into the book and strangle the step-mother whe

This book left me pleasantly surprised. For all the series hype on booktube, I expected to be disappointed. Not only was I not, infact I went out to buy the second book(breaking my book buying ban). Why cant booktube hyped YA books all be this refreshing..
So the retelling is of Cinderella as a cyborg in a dystopia/sci-fi? world, where she is an adopted orphan and works as a mechanic to support her family. The pacing, I had heard was slow, but personally it didn't feel that way. Considering I had ...more
