Very satisfying to be back in Stevie’s crime solving world, together with Janelle, Nate and David. This has the humour that is a Maureen Johnson trademark and was very readable. I had trouble making it last two sittings- I only did so because it was such a long wait for it and I wanted the crime solving joy Stevie- style to last as long as possible. I didn’t enjoy it quite as much as the trilogy because after a trilogy, it felt too short. It probably would have felt too short anyway, but there y ...more

It was a fun read! Like some other reviewers have been saying, I'd love more novels with this crew and Stevie just going around and solving more mysteries. It did seem like a pretty fast solve though especially in comparison to the last series. I know it's a standalone novel so that's why but still. I was surprised by the ending and how some of the details fit together in the mystery and I did have that urgency to keep listening so if you loved the Truly Devious series, you'll probably like this ...more

Stevie is not one to give up easily and is always determined to solve any cases she's investigating and this one is no different: the murder of four young people.

Since the setting for this one is a summer camp, it's a bit different from the previou

I actually liked this more than Truly Devious mystery.

We get to see all of important characters came back for this standalone mystery. The Box in the Woods takes place during summer and it's named after cold case from 1978 when four teenagers were killed at a summer camp. Guess who was invited by new owner of this summer camp? You guessed it - Stevie, Nate and Janell.

I got sucked in from the beginning and it's because of "past" chapters I absolutely loved these. There is not many of them but the

Honestly, better than it's predecessors. And NATE IS FINALLY WRITING! His description of the writing process was too real.
Also, Stevie is so amazingly quirky, it's perfect!
