ETA: I have informed my Non-Reader Husband that I hope Emily Henry's books become rom-com movies someday so that I can force him to watch them with me on date nights!

Maybe I'm getting soft as I get older or maybe it is just the way Emily Henry writes people and romance, but dang this was adorable.

This was my first buddy read! Thank you Amanda for suggesting this book and making me put it on top of my TBR pile.

What a great story with great characters.

I loved the banter and the jokes made me laugh out loud. The author was particularly good at creating an image in your mind of what was happening on the page. I have a book crush on Alex now obviously!!!

I am not very into RomComs because they all follow the same path, but this was very good.

Alex and Poppy's relationship is beautifully bittersweet, a classic friendship that wants to be something more but is struggling. The way the story jumped back and forth between two timelines didn't work well for me, though. We alternate between the past, when Alex and Poppy were best friends but nothing more, and the present, where the situation is more unclear. Something unspecified happened two years ago to disrupt the friendship, and they haven't spoken since then. However, when they meet up ...more
