3 stars. I thought I was going to love this but it was just…fine. Not terrible, not that great just okay. I think the plot was very interesting but the execution was lackluster. While there were definitely some cool moments where the body horror was pretty good, the rest of this book was just really boring. I did like the writing though. This book was perfect. From beginning to end. Noemi was a character who, like most women, on the surface one would regard as flaky, carefree, selfish and shallow. But looking closer you saw the complexities, and felt drawn to her and her world quickly. The house is a character in and of itself and it did not disappoint in the gothic horror.
