Gemina is the second book in the Illuminae Files and it doesn't disappoint. It's just as wonderful and amazing on the first one!
Introducing two new character, Nik Malikov and Hanna Donnelly must save not only themselves, but everyone aboard the Hypatia from invaders and alien predators.
I found myself quickly liking Hanna. She is a no-nonsense individual, who will make you pay in a heartbeat. She went through so much and remain amazingly resilient throughout. Even in the face of fear, she remai ...more

I had so much fun with this!! When I read Illuminae a couple of years ago, I liked it, but I was a little letdown by the massive hype. I think I went into Gemina with lower expectations, and I ended up really enjoying it.
I really liked the mixed media, it didn't get too repetitive or boring. I loved the journal entires and drawings by Marie Lu. Seeing that blood stain get bigger and bigger caused me anxiety.
I liked our two main characters, Nik and Hanna. I also liked Ella, you can't forget Ella ...more

4 stars. Wow, this was such an improvement from the first book! I enjoyed this immensely. I was on the fence with this series at first but I'm glad I took a chance and continued on anyways.
I read this and listened to the audio book together and that was such a fun experience. I highly recommend the audiobook, it's freaking amazing! The entire cast does a wonderful job.
The story in this one was so good. Where I felt as Illumina's story was severely lacking and took a backseat to the visuals. Her ...more

Okay. Okay, so this one isn't as mindblowing as the first one, and the plot isn't nearly as meaty, but it's still an excellent addition to the series, and for that, I applaud it. I considered docking this a half a star or so for the aforementioned reasons, I've decided not to for two reasons.
1) Did I like the meaty plot better? Yes. But do I also like it when authors use more than one kind of plot in a series? Also yes. As I said in my review of Illuminae, the first book uses practically every ...more

This book took me a little longer to get into than the first one.
Let me also express that I am not a big fan of Sci/Fi so I am sure this has something to do with it.
Also the way the book is laid out through different documents, messages, video log reports, etc. I find distracting however my students seem to really enjoy.
I wouldn't say it was a bad book but there were so many things going on that I found it hard to keep up.

Gemina Review on K-Books
“And now, born from the ashes, she’s a warrior in bloodied black.”
I first read Illuminae about a year or so ago after falling in love with the Aurora Cycle series. I was absolutely blown away by how much I loved it, especially as it’s written in a very different format to what I am used to. I absolutely flew through it, but at the time I didn’t own the second and third books. And then, story of my life, I got distracted by other books and they just went on the shelf t ...more
