I loved this book so much it was the best sequel I have ever read to any other book series I have read. I loved the characters especially Grey and Lia Mara the romance was slow but so very well wriiten they are so great together. I also really loved the strong sisterly bonds between Lia Mara and her sister as Lia Mara says Two sisters one heart. I loved Grey for his strength of will his willingness to fight for what he believes in by the end of the book anyway and for the way he cares for the gr

AHHHHHHHH! I am so torn! I want so badly to give this 5 stars because I love Grey and have come to love Lia Mara as well, but the second installment of this series did some other characters that I love dirty.
Grey getting to find his own way and learning to be more than just a weapon wielded by others was magical and I was happy to spend my time with him in this one. However, Rhen acting like he learned nothing in book one had me wishing I could have more from his POV just to try and understand ...more

Second book in this series, twist on beauty and the beast. The second book takes the series into a whole new story and overall I loved it.
The first third was a bit slow, building back story of Grey and Lia Mara. As the story progressed, it made more sense as to why the time was taken and I am grateful.
Without giving away too much, there’s no major plot driver through-out most of the book (similar to most second books in a trilogy). However the mini adventures keep you looped in and wondering h ...more

Picking up right where we left off in a A Curse So Dark and Lonely, Kemmerer draws us into the world of Emberfall once again. Except this time, we primarily get to follow the character of Grey. I was surprised by such a major shift in perspective, but I loved being able to see through the eyes of my favorite character from the first novel.
What I love most about Kemmerer's writing is the way she paces her stories. Normally I struggle with getting through large fantasy novels, but I was halfway th ...more

The characters for me developing was a little slow (view spoiler) . Grey, I have liked in the first book, and he seemed to be the better (view spoiler)
Enjoyed this book but nothing that I have not read before, I will want to read the third book ( so engaged in this series now, how can I not?) I wonder if the third book will wrap it up ...more

I gave this book 3 stars but it's about a 3.5. I really wish I liked this book more. I loved the first book and was very excited for this one but I have to say I was a little disappointed.
This book follows Grey and the Princess from their warring neighbor country. I didn't mind either of their character development but I had a hard time feeling an attachment or any emotion from what I think the author wanted us to feel. The princess' self conscious demeanor is very relatable but paired with Gre ...more

It was good but I wasn't as captivated as I was in the first one. I wasn't sucked in and in "can't put it down" mode until about 3/4 into the book. I did like seeing more of the world of Emberfall and I liked the new characters. But I think it would have been even better a bit longer and more detail about what our other MC's were up to at the same time as the main group that was talked about.

Oh my freaking god was this intense! I can’t process how this story just went from pint a to q in like 400 pages.
I’m so happy to see more depth in grey and the princess as well as how the future of both kingdoms are at stake. I cannot believe I have to wait a year for the final book I’m already counting the days.
