2nd time reading
I love Grey and I'm happy to be rereading his story. He was sort of mysterious in the first book and I like seeing into his head. His past is sad and after Harper got with Rhen, he needed to find some people on his side. Luckily Lia Mara is perfect for him! She's sweet and kind and stronger than she knows. Her mother treats her terribly and I enjoyed seeing her gain confidence from Grey so she could fight back.

Second book in this series, twist on beauty and the beast. The second book takes the series into a whole new story and overall I loved it.
The first third was a bit slow, building back story of Grey and Lia Mara. As the story progressed, it made more sense as to why the time was taken and I am grateful.
Without giving away too much, there’s no major plot driver through-out most of the book (similar to most second books in a trilogy). However the mini adventures keep you looped in and wondering h ...more

If you're looking for the book that follows Prince Rhen and Harper, this is not that book. If you want to know what happens to Grey and who exactly are these enemies from Syhl Shallow, then this is the book for you.
A Heart so Fierce & Broken is mainly told from two new POVs: Ex Commander of the Guard, Grey and the looked over daughter of Karis Luran, Lia Mara. Grey knows the truth now, he is the true Prince of Emberfall and Rhen's brother. Before killing Lilith in the mortal world, she told him ...more

Sometimes I hate to read a sequel because it's not as good as the previous book(s), but this one did not disappoint me in the least!
I adore the Prince and Harper's relationship and thought their story was a beauty and the beast story from the get-go. I just love to see how they continue to grow.
Then there are Grey and Lia Mara whose romance is so sweet to read about. It's not really an insta-love/romance, but it's more of a slow burn which I really like better in general anyway. They are so ma ...more

2 stars. I’m not sure what happened here because this was pretty terrible. None of the characters feel like themselves and the new characters were boring. This was the epitome of second book syndrome which is a shame because book one was really good. I’ll read the third book just to finish this series off but that one is rated even lower than this one so I’m not going in with any kind of hope.

The characters for me developing was a little slow (view spoiler) . Grey, I have liked in the first book, and he seemed to be the better (view spoiler)
Enjoyed this book but nothing that I have not read before, I will want to read the third book ( so engaged in this series now, how can I not?) I wonder if the third book will wrap it up ...more

Staying with the theme from A Curse So Dark and Lonely, the plot of A Heart So Fierce and Broken plods along with easy predictability. (view spoiler) While the specifi

DNF @ 50%
The plot is very predictable, outright boring.
The characters are not true to who they were in Book 1, almost seemed like they regress.
The new characters are not written very well.
Not enough of the original 3.
Very underwhelimg.

I’m obsessed with this story!!!
Great world building? Check.
Amazing characters? Check.
Witty dialogue? Check.
Adventure and violence? Check and check.
Romance? Double check!
I’m so glad I got to read this amazing book! I feel like the story begins a bit slowly compared to the first novel, but once it gets going you’re hooked. I found myself wanting to know what moves Grey and Rhen would make next. I really enjoyed the introduction of Lia Mara’s character and the new lands explored in this sequel. I f ...more

I think I like the first book more. This book did not have as much action and emotion as the first book, but it still was captivating. I love that it followed Grey, but I would have liked a little more of Jake and Noah. I also loved the addition of Lia Mora and the scarver he seemed so interesting. I want to know more about his people and his history.

Was the whole first book totally useless -_- This felt like such a whole different story! Very disappointed with this one for the amount I was anticipating it. I like the introduction of two new POVs, but the characters felt like opposites of what they were previously, and I didn't like that. Everyone felt new to me. And the new POV was so typical. I hope the third one brings it back.

My feelings are mixed. I definitely didn't love this as much as the first one, but I think that was the plot. I'm really sad that the POVs changed, but I loved the ones that were in it... Just missed the old ones. I feel like I can't say much else without spoilers.... I called the ending though.
