What Members Thought

This was ok. I started off finding it charming but more than half way through, I found myself bored. There was very little romance or chemistry between the main characters and for at least half of the book, I wasn’t even sure as a reader that the prince was the love interest. I liked the fact that Harper, our female lead, had cerebral palsy, and this in no way undermined her feisty and brave nature. Also, as a duology, the ending has been left open and another mystery to unravel. I am in fact wo

2nd time reading
I'm happy I'm rereading the first two books before the third comes out. It's nice to get a refresher of the details so I remember everything. I still like the characters, Harper is strong and stands up for herself and others. Grey is loyal to a fault and so sweet with kids. Rhen has come a long way from the jerk that rejected a sorceress and caused this curse.

Oh. My. Gosh. I thought this book was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Such attention to detail, the characters were so dynamic and varied in their personalities. The only thing that went wrong for me was misplacing my book because this book is NOT one you'll want to put down. I had set mine in a box with books I was giving to the used book store (or maybe my sweet husband did! lol) and we found it when we took the bag to the store. LOL So I lost some continuity in the reading but it was easy to get back into i

Wow that ending!!! Or should I say that epilogue. This whole damn book was excellent. I loved the character flaws in both Rhen and Harper. While Rhen was more of a mopey spoiled brat, eventually he learned his ways. Harper was strong from day one and I admired her spirit and never fail attitude.
There's so much packed into this book it's hard to review without spoiling the surprises within. There's magic, realism, battles and a sprinkling of romance plus so much more. Early on Harper is transport ...more

This story was amazing. Retelling of Beauty and the Beast with twists. Rhen took a bit for me to warm up to, but I was glad to see the changes happening. Harper was fierce and willing to stand up for herself and the kingdom from the beginning. I loved her tenacity. Grey was loyal to a fault to Rhen. What a twist there at the end.... Will her brother and Noah be stuck there forever? Can't wait to see what happens with Grey!

I know there are a lot of Beauty and the Beast retellings out there, but this one is different (well to me). Most of the retellings are romance heavy. And while this novel has romance in it, it also has other themes dealing with making difficult choices and learning to come to terms with not everything is within your control, we can only play our best hand with the cards dealt to us. And with BATB retellings, the heroine is easily the factor makes or breaks the book for me. Fortunately, Harper i

Beauty and the beast retelling and it was friggin awesome!
Harper, a girl from DC, is thrown into another world with Prince Rhen and Commander Grey. Their interplay and the environment created are so wonderful. With a retelling you can’t be sure how far they can veer from the original and still be interesting; this book struck a perfect balance to be certain!
