So my first response after reading this is that it was weird. And it really was. But what should someone expect reading a book with an MC who is a gravedigger and another a mapmaker. Bone Houses are actually the dead reanimated aka zombies. Ryn’s life revolves around the dead and bone Houses are just another part of her day until Ryn has to save Ellis from his first run in with a bone house. I stick by what I said, this was a weird book. It wasn’t bad per-say just very odd and different. The aut

In a world where the dead don’t always stay buried, Aderyn has been devoted to supporting her family as a gravedigger. Her village of Colbren used to be home to the fae, and has been slowly dying. After the death of Ryn’s parents, she is struggling to keep her family afloat. With their Uncle missing, the town authority comes after them for his debt with a new ferocity. When Ellis comes to town, the newly dead called bone houses begin to attack the town with a new vehemence. Together, Ryn a ...more

This was okay.
I liked the idea behind it and Ryn was pretty badass, but it just felt lacking. The reason behind why the bone houses exist and how to break the curse just didn't do it for me. I think we could have gone deeper and I was hoping we would get to meet the "others" aka fae and learn more about their magic.

I loved The Hone Houses with all my heart. Ryn and Ellis and their adventure into the heart of the mountains to end a curse were all kinds of epic-ness. Whoever said this book was perfect for fans of V.E. Schwab got is perfectly right. The beautiful prose reminded me so much of The Near Witch.

I absolutely loved this and don't understand why everyone isn't raving about it. This book has a great mix of horror and fantasy, a beautiful slow burn romance, amazing and unique characters, and a gripping and compelling plot! I read this audiobook and will need to reread as a physical copy soon so I can savor all the details and learn how to spell the names!
