I didn't realize how attached I got to some of these characters until closer to the end, and when I realized it, I was shocked.
I was just reading along, thinking "this is okay" until stuff really started happening toward the end and I wanted to cry for Rachel, for her mom, for Astrid...and even a little for Nick. This is fully entertaining and while I do not think it is something I will rave about for years to come or go back and re-read, it was still crazy levels of fun to read. I am thoroughl ...more

I saw the movie first and enjoyed it! Especially after reading descriptions of the houses and dresses etc, it helps to see it in a movie version. I enjoyed the book too, the depth of backstories and different perspectives. It's always interesting to learn more about other cultures but it wasn't so heavy that I had to take breaks while reading it which was one of the things I liked about it.
