Fangirl was a really cute book with likeable and relatable characters and a good plotline. However, it wasn't a book that stood out to me or was very spectacular. The similarities between the Simon Snow books Cath and Wren were fans of and Harry Potter were a bit annoying, even if they weren't exactly the same.

OH MY GOD. I'm identifying myself with Cath so much. The typical fangirl, who tends to write fanfiction and who'd rather stay at home on a Saturday night to watch some nerd stuff.
Absolutely brilliant. So cute, romantic and funny. I can highly recommend it to you!
UPDATE 16/10/2023:
i'll have to deduct 1.5 stars ... new rating is 3.5. while i still really like the book some things just really annoyed me. cath being the "not like other girls" girl. wren being the "rebellious teen who wants to be ind ...more

Shout out to Cath and her love for fandoms. Seriously. The excerpts from the Simon books and Cath's own fanfiction was one of my favorite aspects of the book, which is why I immediately went to my local library and checked out Carry On.
As much as I loved Cath's involvement with fanfiction and fangirling, the book itself was okay. The characters – Cath, Wren, Reagan, and Levi – were all well-written and dynamic. I just wish there was more to the plot than there was, especially since I felt like t ...more

Is it too late to jump on the bandwagon that is rainbow rowell? No? ok good, cause I want to jump on this bandwagon and never get off it! When I first started reading it I was like it can't be as good as everyone says and oh gosh is this an overhyped book, no one could be that good...... I am man enough to admit I was wrong, I freaking love this book. She makes you fall in love with Levi, Wren, Regan. I loved how I felt reading this book, everything Cath was going through I felt like I was going

I've thought about this book a lot since finishing it and I think my main problem is I really disliked the main character Cath. I don't mind reading books with dislikable characters or antiheroes, but this level of dislike was different since I think I was supposed to like Cath. Her level of social anxiety just felt too much and false (and this is coming from someone who has struggled with social anxiety and used to hide away in her dorm room avoiding people). The way she was portrayed made it h

If books had personalities, “Fangirl” would have a split one, hands down.
I’ve rarely come across a novel that began with so much promise only to take a nosedive into failure as the male and female protagonists changed moods, behaviors, and characteristics like normal people change the TV channel midway through a sitcom only to end up watching the last half of a one-star reality show.
At first, Cath was a barely tolerable character who reminded me of a high school version of myself, down to the ...more

3.5 stars, but rounding up cause I did really enjoy the book.
I actually really enjoyed Fangirl. Maybe it's because of the extremely relatable characters in it.
Cath was a very good character who you see develop through this whole novel. They aren't obvious changes but we see her slowly open up throughout the book. It was a steady develop which was nice to read, no instant changes with in her. We got to see her come out of her shell and make friends.

3.5/5 - Apparently I started this book in July 2021. I didn't get very far into it and then placed it aside for different books. Restarted Jan 19 2024.
