Whoo! Another book I originally didn't finish and now have completed. The key for this one was listening to the audiobook. It had a male and female narrator depending on who's point of view it is in the story. It also kept moving through the slow parts, the cause of my dnf the first time.

I enjoy sci-fi dystopian novels and this had interesting parts. The strategy the aliens had to invade was incredibly smart and efficient. Because of everything humanity has been through by the time we meet Cass

No. It started well and had an interesting post apocalyptic take but the romance completely ruined it for me.

Absolutely drew me in right away! I wasn't sure about this book because of the aliens, but it was nothing like what I expected!

Humans are being killed in waves, and thus the 5th "wave" is upon them.

The character development was excellent! I couldn't believe what some of the young people went through! Oh my gosh!

I also thought the world building was superb. I was a total believer! I can't wait for the next wave!

Recommendation: A must read!

Even though I've seen the movie, this book was still amazing. Can't wait to read the second one. One thing I didn't enjoy that much though was, at the start, the way it wasn't in order. I like the way the movie did it. And for once, I think the movie was actually done well in comparison to the book, but I may have thought differently if I'd read the book first. Glad I finally read this book :) And I also like how (view spoiler) ...more

I saw the movie a couple of times, but didn't remember much of it. I've never read the book before, but it was a bit dissapointing to me.
There were bits in the story that really dragged along and that could've been shorter, like the revelation about Evan, the relationship between Evan and Cassie. that sort of things.
The idea of aliens coming and hitting in 5 waves is really interesting and has a lot of point of views where you can do much with it, but the romance and Cassie being a bit to much o

I was not a fan of this book, even though I had high expectations for it.

Things I didn't like:
- The writing style bothered me. I didn't like the short, jumpy diary entries.
- Cassie was so whiny. How she acts in a dystopian world is so annoying. It's the end of the world and all she cares about is her crush.
- Not enough action as I would have wanted for an alien dystopian book.

Great book. Kept me hooked till the end.
The aliens attack Earth, clean it up from humanity, make it their new home. The world is torn apart, the civilization is down. The military is defeated, only debris of humanity stay alive, those who can't even fight back.
Cassi is left alone, her brother is taken away. As time passes, she realizes that Sammy, her brother, has been taken away by aliens, aliens that have human look, like their souls forced into a human body and now are living amongst the surv

Interesting start so far. I thought the way the aliens invaded was interesting. I'm not super crazy about anything, but I enjoyed all of the characters. ...more

Well, I finally understand why the rating of the movie was so low.
