I read this back when it was first released and I remember enjoying it. I enjoyed it so much that I kept buying the other books in this series as they came out but for one reason or another I never got around to reading them. So here I am reading this again because I can't remember yesterday let alone 10 years ago.

I loved this. I loved this so much! I felt immediately immersed into this world and am feeling the need to binge!

First read: 5 stars

Second read: 4 stars

Celaena, Chal, Dorian, and Nehemia! Oh how I have missed you! I cannot believe I first read this book in 2014. I started rereading this one, and ended up finishing in about 2 hours. I missed all the characters, and it has been WAY too long since I've seen some of them. I did change my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars mainly because I felt like not much happened in this book, and I realized that it wasn't my favorite in this series. I think this one does a gre

Throne of Glass was at the top of everyone's YA fantasy list, closely followed by Graceling. I tried Graceling first. Blah. Couldn't finish. I moved on to Throne of Glass and had a much more enjoyable read. Though moments had me (as a writer) saying "This is all fluff/where is the conflict here?" I still kept turning pages, and enjoying the fluff, enjoying the banter between characters, enjoying the relaxing read. Which is a shocker for me. Though there was a lot of telling and not showing, the ...more

Why did it take me this long to start this series??

Celaena Sardothien is a world-famous assassin who, prior to this book, was sentenced to a lifetime of living and working in the Endovier Salt Mines as punishment for her crimes, personally sent there by the King of Adarlan himself. So when his son, Crown Prince Dorian shows up at the Salt Mines along with the Captain of the King's Guard, Chaol Westfal, Celaenia is intrigued.

They offer her a chance she can barely refuse: compete in a contest to

At first, I was kind of worried that I had TOG and ACOTAR confused—I knew for sure ACTOAR has faeries, but it took so long for any sort of magic to be brought up in TOG that I was sure ACOTAR was the one with faeries, and they didn’t show up in TOG. However, when magic finally did show up, I was intrigued—I don’t know if I have this right since this is only book one, but it seems to be a sort of rune “magic” (though Wyrdmarks predate magic), which I find interesting.

I love how the romances are l
