Well, I did it. And quickly, too! I have so many mixed feelings. In fact, Samantha (from Thought on Tomes on YouTube) summed it up perfectly in her review and I couldn't agree with her more: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

But I'll still spew my thoughts here because I can't not.

I chose to rate this book 3 stars, because I swung between 2 stars for the parts that had me eye-rolling all the time, to 4 stars at the end when I couldn't put it down, to 3 stars for the rest of the book. So 3

Here's the thing; Sarah J. Maas is undoubtedly my favourite author (because of Heir of Fire). So I was expecting to like love this book. Yet I left conflicted and disappointed and intrigued...

The Good:

Sarah J. Maas' writing is amazing, she made me care for characters that I felt no connection to, for the last 30% percent of this book I was a whirlwind of emotions. This was the part that packed lots of plot, and I just wish that the rest of the book was as good as that 30%.

Honestly, this book dragged so much and it was a solid four. But it was the end that really made this a five-star read. I get that this book might not be for everyone. There are some problematic things in this book, but overall it was a fun read. I will be continuing on in this series.

**3.5**

I gotta start by saying that I didn't have much faith in this book since ToG is such a disaster, but I ended up enjoying it.

Feyre is a much better main character than that other one who doesn't deserve to be named. I really liked the world and the fact that it is a B&tB retelling. I also liked the characters and the writing style wasn't horrible.

At some points it was kinda boring and it lagged so bad (view spoiler)

Wow. Just wow. I didn't think this originally was a book for me as I read the books synopsis but boy was I wrong. That I had so low expectations just made it even better in my opinion. I loved the characters so incredibly much and have already started on the second book, while I just ordered the third one and it's on its way.

Edit: Read it for a second time and picked up on so much more of hints of what was to come in the next books.

Now here's the deal, the first half of this book is kinda boring and slow for my liking. And I am not a big fan of the romance between Feyre and Tamlin, I think they lack the sparks and dynamic.
My love towards this book emerged when Rhysand was introduced, although ngl I was worried he was gonna be another Warner from Shatter Me which I despise. Also I love the trials parts. Amarantha was a sick b*tch.
I am having high expectations for this trilogy.
