I have to admit…I was quite overwhelmed with all the plot lines involved in Rivers and Stella’s story. At its center, Rivers is a second chance romance; the hero and heroine have spent five years apart, which means that they are essentially strangers when Rivers heads home to Austin to try and win Stella back. The steps to a reconciliation while confronting the past is an arduous task on its own, so complicating things even further with other plot points was a bit taxing.

Don’t get me wrong, adding in further conflict to Rivers and Stella’s reunion was necessary, but in some ways, there were too many outside issues to factor in and it took the focus off of what went wrong between Rivers and Stella and what it would take to repair what was broken.

What I also struggled with was the main reason for Rivers and Stella’s breakup. Throughout the entire book, it’s made clear that these two were soulmates…that they shared the kind of love that would never waiver, but their love crumbled under one incident…one secret that was kept…one favor for a friend and a promise made - all due to a misunderstanding and a refusal to hear an explanation. That should not have broken their love…it should not have shaken their foundation, but it did and in my opinion, they both gave up too easily, not fighting for what was supposed to be forever.

Despite my issues and concerns with some of the story, though, I enjoyed Rivers, and I was solidly in their corner when it came to working towards a second chance. The intimate scenes between Rivers and Stella captured the love between them and the ease in which their feelings reemerged and their connection got back on track illustrated the true depth of their love.
There’s only one Crow brother left, Ridge, and with his perspective on life and love, it will be interesting to see where his story goes and how easy or difficult it will be for the right woman to bring him to his knees.

OMG! I am seriously struggling with the actual words to describe how seriously awesome this book is.

I am completely and utterly in love with this story. It wasn’t so long back that I was reviewing Tulsa’s story and saying how he had stolen my heart. But reading Rivers has completely surpassed that. His story is EVERYTHING and so much more. It is a story that keeps on giving and leaves you wanting more and more and everything in between.

What’s great about S.L Scott’s books that apart from the romantic love stories, there are always unexpected plot twists. In this book, the twists were phenomenal and kept me on the edge of my seat and kept me guessing throughout. I simply could not put this down.

Stella is honestly one of the best female characters I have read. Her massive heart and beautiful soul is spellbinding. The determined sacrifices she felt had to make in order to protect everything and everyone she loved was so admirable and mirrored with her unwavering strength. My heart broke for her, with all the hurt and sadness she unfortunately had to endure. If there was ever a character deserving of true happiness, it certainly has to be Stella.

As for Rivers, WOW! What a beautiful soul, inside and out. A character who has always been an enigma. His haunting vulnerability and absorbing love grabs you from the very first page. Every uttered word, every single emotion that he felt, in fact every little thing he did, was packed full of absolute devotion. He has to be, hands down, the best romantic male hero I have EVER read. He is simply fantastic.

Every page was filled with so much love, angst and heartbreak. I am a huge romance novel fan, but never before have I read a story that had me in tears one moment and swooning the next. It is so hard to put into words how utterly beautiful this love story is. I am a huge romance novel fan, but never before have I read a story where the two main characters have such an immense and all consuming connection. They are the true definition of soulmates, with a sizzling chemistry. Their love story has etched a place in my heart forever which I shall never forget.

S.L. Scott is a phenomenal writer. Her ability to continually write stories that are heartfelt is incredible. You will never forget her stories or her books. Please keep them coming!! ...more

Rivers Crow is hurting emotionally. How do you fix what you thought was helping someone else? Stella Fellowes seems to be torn. She just doesn’t understand what she’s feeling and what she should do.

This is a second chance story that seems so natural. I loved that Stella made it tough for Rivers to apologize but there were times that I just wanted to shake her. Other times I just wanted to yell at her. It left me feeling sorry for Rivers. At the time he made a life-altering decision, he didn’t fe Rivers Crow is hurting emotionally. How do you fix what you thought was helping someone else? Stella Fellowes seems to be torn. She just doesn’t understand what she’s feeling and what she should do.

This is a second chance story that seems so natural. I loved that Stella made it tough for Rivers to apologize but there were times that I just wanted to shake her. Other times I just wanted to yell at her. It left me feeling sorry for Rivers. At the time he made a life-altering decision, he didn’t feel that he was doing anything wrong. There are times when we all make a decision that we question or feel later on that we made a bad choice.

Even though this story is told from the point of view from both of our main characters. I didn’t feel as if the pov was split evenly – and that was fine by me. By having it lean more toward Rivers, we see why his heart is in so much pain. He tries talking it out and by having it seen through his eyes you get to see how two people don’t see or hear things the same way. By getting Stella’s pov, she shows us how assumptions can hurt and how they affect us over time. For some people it’s hard to move on especially when our head and hearts are involved.

Since this is part of a series, you may ask if it needs to be read in order. As I read this third book in the Crow Brothers Series, I didn’t feel lost at any time. I did feel as if his band takes a back seat as we get to know a man who’s job just happens to be linked to a rock band. It was a book where I didn’t feel as if I needed to listen to music in order to get into the mood – since my attention was focused on our main character’s relationship. And that’s so true when we get a very romantic ending where you have no choice but to smile. Now that may change when the other books in the series are read.

Did this book leave me wanting to rush out to read the books I’ve missed? No. Did it leave me wanting to know who these Crow Brothers are? Yes. Did it leave me wondering if there are more books in this series? Yes. At some point will I catch up? Of course.

I love a rocker romance, and author S.L. Scott has shown more than once that she knows how to do them, and to do them right. With the Crow Brothers series, Suzie introduced us to some new guys to love (and, heck yeah, I get to see more of my beloved Jack Dalton!), a band of brothers with their stories to tell. And, while each of them are wonderful in their own way, I think that we all kind of knew that it was this man, this brother, that was going to do us in. To break our hearts, and remake ...more

I love this woman. I don't think I can express how I truly feel about her, and her writing. Every time she has a new release, I put it on my list to read, I one-click that bad boy, and then I shoot myself because I don't drop what I'm doing right that minute and start reading. Every book I've read from S.L. Scott, takes me on a roller coaster of emotions, she takes you up, throws you down and then gets you safely to the end, thinking WHOA.

Excellent read as Rivers finally gets a second chance with the girl he's always loved. Having all the fame and money hasn't made him happier. The only way he'll ever be happy is to make things right with Stella. He returns to Austin to do just that! ...more
