Any musical group Johnny Outlaw deems worthy of his new label is definitely one that The Resistance’s fans will support, and after being introduced to the the Crow brothers in S.L. Scott’s newest release, Spark, it’s clear that the band is ready for the limelight as long as the trios’ dreams of success align with what the oldest brother, Jet, needs to do in order to get to know and take responsibility for a little boy who comes to mean everything to him.

Scott’s newest release, Spark, it’s clear that the band is ready for the limelight as long as the trios’ dreams of success align with what the oldest brother, Jet, needs to do in order to get to know and take responsibility for a little boy who comes to mean everything to him.

I’m a huge fan of S.L. Scott’s bad boy rockers, and even though Jet Crow and his brothers are still trying to ‘make it’ in the music scene, they definitely have the musical talent, swagger, and determination to climb the rock and roll charts and become a household name.

But Spark is about so much more than becoming a successful musician; in fact, music plays a secondary role throughout much of Jet and Hannah’s story. At its core, Spark focuses on a single father doing right by a son he never knew he had until the little boy was 6 years old and the mess that’s created by this revelation and the people who deliberately interfere in order to keep father/son apart for dubious reasons.

Scott introduces readers to a multitude of new characters in Spark - ones who will hopefully have their own story told, but the one character who absolutely stole the show is Alfie - Jet’s son, Hannah’s cousin, and the most amazing and caring little boy. Alfie is the reason that Hannah enters Jet’s life…he’s the reason that Jet finds every day a little brighter and now that Jet has someone else to protect, he steps up like he did for his brothers all those years ago after his mom passed away.

Jet’s love interest, Hannah Nichols, definitely has her own issues to sort through when it comes to her place in Jet’s life as well as the amount of time she gets to spend with Alfie. Hannah’s backstory is not a happy one, and while she made me a bit frustrated, at times, due to her hot and cold demeanor, readers can’t help but feel for her because she’s in an incredibly difficult position when it comes to what’s best for the little boy who has become her world and the man who is nothing like the man her cousin and her aunt have made him out to be.

Readers can’t help but hope Hannah is able to sift through all of the lies and realize that the connection she shares with Jet is something that could make her past pain hurt a little bit less and give her a future full of love and happiness, two things she hasn’t felt much of based on her past choices and her family members’ neglect.

Jet and Hannah’s story is a sweet, heartfelt, and steamy read that will have readers rooting for the Crow brothers to be successful in the music industry and for Jet, Hannah, and Alfie to become a family in every sense of the word. Fans of The Resistance and Johnny Outlaw will love the advice and the chance they give to the Crow trio, making them one big happy rock and roll family.

I just figured out that I have a type (in book boyfriends).

Big, strong, tough-looking guys (sometimes musicians, sometimes not) with hearts of gold.

Jet Crow is one of these men. He's a musician who has taken advantage of the perks of his trade, but deep down, he wants more. Boy does he get MORE.

Not one to run from a challenge, Jet rolls with the punches that life throws his way and makes sure to let those close to him know how important they are to him. Often. Clearly.

It’s taken me a few days to get my thoughts together for a review. And I really don’t know how to do it with out spoiling all the things. SL Scott continues to blow me away with each story, characters that are unique, and a plot that will pull at all your emotions. A definite must read.

Spark by SL Scott was an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFULLY written story!!! Chopped full of ups and downs, twists and turns.
Spark was definitely a romantic love story, plus it's a Rock star romance, HELL YEAH!!!

I will state upfront that S.L. Spark is a must-read author for me. She has been for a long time and it is stories like Spark that are the reason for that. Emotional and character driven stories. In this story, the author introduces us to a new set of rockers and brings back old friends!

I love Hannah & Jett!

This book introduces us to the Crow Brothers and brings us back into the world of The Resistance.

I loved it! The Resistance books have stuck with me so I was thrilled to see them again. Alfie is adorable.

The women are never weak in S.L.'s books and Hannah is strong and beautiful just like the rest. I can't wait for the rest of their stories & revisiting all these characters!! ...more

Johnny Outlaw, rock legend and lead singer of The Resistance, is here to watch us play. But he’s not the only familiar face in the crowd—killer little body, heart-shaped face, and drop-dead gorgeous.

Can we start by talking about the cover? Honestly S.L. has some of the best, most stunning covers of any of my one-click authors. They are always colorful, gorgeous, and they stand out. This cover is no different. When I first saw it, I literally felt myself swooning at my desk.

Onto the story itself. Scott is so dang good at crafting male leads who are a bit broken, entirely hot, and good-hearted, gentlemen as well. Jet Crow is the front man for a band that he started with his brothers (The Crow Brothers). He’s wicked talented, on stage and in the sheets, and though he can have his choice of any woman, he immediately falls for Hannah Nichols after they hook up. Hannah walks away from him however, and Jet has no idea if he’ll ever see her again. Little does he know that his next encounter with Hannah will forever alter his life in ways he never dreamed imaginable.

My favorite element of this story is the relationship that Jet has with Alfie. I couldn’t wipe the grin off my face if I tried every time I read a scene with these two in it. Jet might be a sexy, tattooed, uber talented man that can charm the heck of out the ladies, but at the end of the day, he’s committed to his family, and every decision he makes must be right by them for him to move forward with it. I love this quality in him. His appreciation for Hannah, and his refusing to give up on her, got me too, straight in the heart.

Hannah is broken and trying to pick up the pieces. She’s trying to be strong, not just for herself bur for Alfie and her family as well. She wants Jet, there’s no question about it, but she’s hyper focused on Alfie and what’s best for him. She’s the kind of person who is willing to let her own needs go unmet, if it means the ones of those she loves are, which can be a double-edged sword. I really liked her as a character, because she doesn’t have everything put together, she’s kind of a hot mess in a lot of ways, but her priorities are there, and she does whatever it takes to protect the ones she loves.

This is a slow burn story. The feelings are there from the start, and the spark is there (no pun intended), and I could definitely feel all of this when I was reading. But Scott took her time with this, drew things out and made the story move at a comfortable taste. And I loved this because it made it easy for me as the reader to savor the experience.

I’m not going to divulge too many details about this, because I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t read it. The plot is unique, and I loved that Scott threw some twists and turns in, hit me with a few curve balls and kept me guessing about some things. The character development is spot on and the writing is vivid and emotional. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read Scott’s Resistance series, because some of the characters from that are featured in here, so you’ll get to reconnect, to anyone who likes an angsty romance, and to anyone who loves hot rockers for their heroes.

SL Scott writes some of the best angsty rockers!
Jet Crow is in a band just looking for their big break....Not only does he spot Johnny Outlaw watching them but the sexy Hannah Nichols is back at the bar watching too.
How could he ever forget that one night they shared more than just a bed.
Bomb drop..you have a son!
Jet is out to prove he can be the dad his son needs and the man Hannah needs.

Yes, this is a rock star romance but it is also so much more - a steamy and complicated story between Jet and Hannah filled with suspense and drama. I found it to be very emotional at times and definitely keep me turning those pages. A very well written story about very intriguing characters and their lives. A story that I would highly recommend reading.
