What Members Thought
I missed this book when it first came out, and know that it received many awards and a lot of hype, so I was prepared to be disappointed by it.
Good news: I wasn't.
I live and work in the Bronx; in some ways, I am a "paraguayo" to Dominican culture, immersed into it but not a part of it. Morever, Oscar/Lola/Yunior and I are almost the same age, and I too was a big sci-fi/fantasy nerd (which was something SO uncool that you either hid it, repressed it, or suffered punches for it).
