Wow! Now I know why this is a Classic! I really could not do justice to this book with a review. I found the story haunting and beautiful. Jack London really captured the essence of the dogs throughout the book, and following the story though the eyes (and mind) of Buck was interesting and exhilarating, to say the least. The Call of the Wild is more than just a story, but an experience. It has become one of my all time favorites!
I cannot believe I never read this book before. A Jack London classic told mostly from the viewpoint of the hero, Buck, a magnificent dog brought to Alaska as a sled dog in the days of the gold rush. Although I am not particularly fond of dogs, I loved the character of Buck as created by London. Reading this book fills a large gap in my "great American literature" list.
