What Members Thought
Let's just say I had a bad knee-jerk reaction to this book. It felt forced and gimmicky to me. I am very happy for anyone that enjoyed it and felt like this book did something positive in it's representation of a particular boy with autism.
To this particular reader, it felt contrived and like an attention/award grab. Tackle an emotionally charged topic that's not sufficiently represented in literature and add a thin veneer of mystery and drama. Make sure to fill the pages with diagrams, emotico ...more

Reread. Still very enjoyable, still a bit uncomfortable about the idiot savant trope. I appreciated the ending a bit more this time around. It seemed lifelike.
