I have mixed feelings because
1) I enjoyed this SO much more than I did during my first read 10 years ago (wow I am old!)

2) I still find the beginning and middle to be a bit of a slog.

3)Once Janie finally begins to open herself up to real love, (the kind she wants not the kind her grandmother wanted for her, or society expects) the story gets so good. The ending is heartbreaking & dramatic and a great climax. The ending is the best part of the novel for me.
