What Members Thought

This story is cute, touching, heart-warming, tear-jerking. In other words, a classic!
The target audience is definitely not me. I would say it would be perfect for a teenage girl living in Canada in the early 1900s. That makes sense, because that is exactly what Anne is! However, the point of this obvious detail is that sometimes it is fun to read a classic and try to put your mind in the mindset of who it was written for at the time. I never read this book when I was young but read it after I joined goodreads as one of Stephenie Meyer's books mentioned that Bella Swan's wedding dress looked like a description from this book so then I had to read it. It was a fabulous book which I sure enjoyed but I always feared it would be a "goody two shoes book" and I simply hate those. I may even read it again sometime and buy my own copy!

I was fast captivated by the strong and quirky personality and life story of the orphan Anne with an E. The plot unfolds in very unexpected ways that present and suggest wholesome ideals without being too prissy or forced. The text is cleverly and interestingly written, easy to follow but full of ideas worth considering. All in all it was a delightful read!
