3.5 Story of love and life with philosophical perspectives. The story is centered on the complex life of couple Tereza and Tomas, and their dog Karenin. Tomas is a womanizer when she met young Tereza and never stopped being one not until later part of their lives. Despite having mistresses, Tereza remains the love of his life and they stayed together til the end. It was fine
The characters are allegories and so too one dimensional and overly rigid
They are pawns for understanding the dyadic philosophy espoused
Whether one life one shot versus eternal recurrence - which is better or most likely to lead to happiness?

Look, there’s some good symbolism and moments in here, I actually prefer the intellectualism than two people being absolutely terrible to each other for an entire book.

The weight of burden and the ligtness of betrayal are great themes and I think are moments that pay off that theme greatly , and actually peer in to the nature of a human being in somewhat contemporary times, but the hate boner for the USSR and constant cheating just annoyed the crap out of me. Became intensely repetitive as well
