I dreamed a dream of reading this book - and I accomplished it! Surprisingly easy to read - even though it did take quite some time. Hugo does go off on quite a few tangents, but the whole experience was fantastic!

What can be said that has not been said?

It is a masterpiece, a classic.
It is a tragedy, a romance, and a historical fiction.

i loved the story line of jean and cosette. however, the bunny trails that victor hugo went on, were painful! i skimmed a lot of this book and a lot of parts were not needed to promote the story. im glad to be done it!

This is an excellent book. I could have done without the random tangents about the history of sewers and convents and whatnot, so someday when I get around to reading it again I will definitely skip those parts. But overall I love it!
