I tried to enjoy it! I swear I did! The hype told me that I had to!

I wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I never really cared about the story and ALL of the characters were unlikeable. Sometimes characters are unlikeable in a good way, but not this time.

At no point was I excited to be reading this.

Side note added 4/5/2017: Kinda silly how “Girl” is in so many titles lately. It has to be intentional to ride the coattails of other successful titles. I noticed on my library site that there is

well i had a love hate relationship with this book. Love that it was a nice quick read with a little twist and turn. The hate, the characters, the fact that the main character Rachael just all of a sudden snapped out of it and by the end of the book sounded like a completely different person. All the characters had me frustrated, why would u do that, why would u not say something, why would u put up with that. anyway 3 stars from me.

There isn't really much one can say about this book without making it a spoiler review. So, here we go...

First, be warned that the characters are all unpleasant. Each one, seriously, has some type of mental or addiction problem. To which, I give the author praise because it's true to someone coping with these issues in real life. There is an alcoholic, abusers of all kinds, compulsive lying, a sex addict, and so much baggage with each individual it's not even funny. It did, however, make for a f

This book got rave reviews and a lot of comparisons to the book Gone Girl. Hrm. As to the GG comparison, ok they both have mysteries and all of the characters are douchebags. Other than that, not so much.

I thought the book was merely ok, at times simply annoying, but other times interesting. Also, the reliance on memory gaps and later epiphanies did not hold water for me. It seemed like the author was trying too hard to pull off a plot twist without actually putting in the effort to make it work

This is a compulsive read, I'll give you that. It wasn't terrible and I did find myself predicting the ending correctly. That didn't keep me from hating to put it down and dying to pick it back up, and I can't explain why. It's very short and you can read it in an afternoon, so maybe that's why? The characters are pretty pathetic and there are parts where I'm thinking...ok...really? Made me think more about alcoholism and the toll it takes on lives, but that's as deep as this gets. I gave it thr ...more

I found the characters somewhat boring, yet I listened to the book on audible and the readers actually made them flow together quite well. Maybe I was taken in by the actual readers and the way they made the story come alive. They had three readers, one for Anna, Megan, and Rachel. I think the story could have been reduced to size at some point, it sorta dragged for me. I'm glad a read it, it was okay and I did find it interesting. ...more

After the last book I read disappointed me I was looking for a good thriller and this was it! This book was a gripping and horrendously real feeling character study of some awful people. It was a page turner from beggining to end. A fantastic debut, I look forward to more from this author
