What Members Thought

Perhaps more avid readers of science fiction would disagree with me, but I felt, reading this in 2015, the book was showing its age. i.e. in the treatment of women and savages/natives and travel by personal spaceship.

Different kind of book. It caught me off guard. Some parts really caught my attention.
I really wanted to rate this book more than a three star book but I can't. I am amazed that it was written in the 1930's. Then again, in the 1930's socialism was gaining popularity and many people from the time viewed it as a "creeping socialism" happening in the United States. Huxley was born and raised in England. Socialism views were strong and popular, even to this day. So, seeing how involved the governmen ...more
