The first novella was my favorite in the book.
The Paula Mayo stories were one part Iain M. Banks' Culture, one part Isaac Asimov's R. Daneel Olivaw and one part Larry Niven's Gil Hamilton. And they did a good job of being fair mysteries in a sfnal universe.
I found myself wishing for a bit more personality/emotion from the characters in most of the stories, but if I'm in the mood for far-flung high-tech humanity, Hamilton's universe will be a good one to explore further. ...more
