Recommended if you like literary science fiction. It's a character study of a variety of people who survive a worldwide pandemic. Less violent than you might expect, given the premise (and no zombies in sight -- I am so over zombies).

Looking back over the books I have read in the past few years one thing that really jumps out at me is the number of post-apocalyptic stories there. I don't really consider this a favorite genera of mine but it has been a hot area of late and I have done everything from teen series Divergent and Hunger Games, to comics like The Walking Dead to more literary reads including Oryx and Crake and The Windup Girl.

A sweet post-apocalyptic story. Reminds me of The Dog Stars in tone. Extremely non-linear, almost to the point of distraction; however, this ultimately ends up adding to the poignancy of the story. The characters are well-realized and well-written, indeed overall, the writing is very well done.
