I started reading this book because it was free on Amazon and I was in the mood for more fantasy. I only vaguely recalled that Sanderson was the author who completed Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, so I really didn't know anything about this author. All I knew was that the book was free and that it had very good ratings and there it was staring at me within my Kindle.

It’s been a while since I read any fantasy literature. I’m still trying to find my way through the Malazan series by Erikson. They are a completely different read to this book.
This book reads easily. Sensibly (if that makes sense), compared to the Malazan series.
I first read Sanderson when he completed the Wheel of Time series. I loved that series up to about the seventh book and could not read the rest. They seemed to navel gazey. I did read Sandersons efforts at completing the series after Jo ...more

Possibly the best epic fantasy story I have ever read! This novel came highly recommended and absolutely lived up to that billing. While it does start off slightly slowly the fantastic writing and perfect world building were more than enough to carry me through and once the story gets moving the twists and revelations really do come on at an amazing pace while the writing continues to be flawless.
